Grilled flour tortilla layered with spiced beef, creamy cheese, fresh veggies, and a crunchy tostada shell.

# Components:

→ Beef & Seasoning

01 - 1 lb ground beef
02 - 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning mix
03 - 1/3 cup water

→ Cheese & Sauces

04 - 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
05 - 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
06 - 1/2 cup sour cream

→ Tortillas & Shells

07 - 4 large (10-inch) flour tortillas
08 - 4 round tostada shells

→ Fresh Toppings

09 - 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
10 - 1 medium tomato, diced
11 - 1/4 cup diced red onion (optional)

→ Oil

12 - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

# Method:

01 - In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through, about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain excess fat. Stir in taco seasoning and water, then simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until thickened. Set aside.
02 - Warm the nacho cheese sauce according to package directions or in a small saucepan until hot and pourable.
03 - Place a flour tortilla on a flat surface. Spoon 1/4 of the beef mixture into the center. Drizzle 1/4 of the nacho cheese sauce over the beef. Place a tostada shell on top. Spread 2 tablespoons of sour cream over the shell, then layer shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and shredded cheddar cheese.
04 - Fold the edges of the tortilla inward over the filling, creating pleats to seal completely. If the tortilla does not fully cover the center, cut a small circle from an extra tortilla and place it over the fillings before folding.
05 - Heat vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the wrap seam-side down and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until golden and sealed. Flip and cook the other side for 2 to 3 minutes. Repeat for remaining wraps.
06 - Slice each wrap in half and serve warm.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • That satisfying crunch happens every single time when you layer it right, and it stays crispy even after it cools down.
  • You control the heat level and cheese amount, so it becomes exactly what you're craving instead of a one-size-fits-all fast food experience.
02 -
  • If your tortilla tears while folding, don't panic—that patch of extra tortilla is there for exactly this moment, and nobody will notice once it's grilled.
  • The sour cream is not just a topping; it acts like glue that helps hold layers together and keeps everything from sliding around.
03 -
  • Cut your tomato right before assembling so it doesn't weep and make the wrap soggy—prepping everything else first means you're ready to move fast when the tomato is sliced.
  • If your nacho cheese sauce comes out of the microwave too thick, a few seconds more heat plus a stir usually fixes it, but if it breaks or separates, start with a fresh portion instead of trying to rescue it.
